Megadeth are a thrash metal band from Los Angeles. Formed in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine, Megadeth have sold over 50 million records worldwide across 16 studio albums, received 13 Grammy nominations with one win and have been recognized as a member of the “Big Four” bands credited with establishing the American thrash metal genre along with Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer. Following the group’s 1985 debut Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!, Megadeth released five consecutive platinum albums including 1992’s Countdown to Extinction, which hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 behind their Hot 100-charting single “Symphony of Destruction.” The group hit their highest chart placements since 1994’s Youthanasia with 2016’s Dystopia and 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, which both debuted at No. 3 while the former’s title track netted Megadeth their first Grammy for Best Metal Performance.
