Metallica’s New Album Doesn’t Debut at No. 1

For the first time since 1991, a Metallica album has not debuted in the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Back in 1991, Metallica released their self-titled album, also known as The Black Album. That debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. Since then, every album the band has released has also debuted in that spot…until now.

If we’re just talking physical media, like CDs and vinyl, Metallica’s 72 Seasons would hold the top spot, but because streams are added in, the number one spot went to Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At A Time for the seventh straight week.

Metallica’s new album, 72 Seasons, is available everywhere now.
